Flyfisher’s Guide to Michigan
I think this book is a must have when researching rivers that you are checking out to fish. It has detailed explanations of not only rivers to fish, but creeks and tributaries affiliated with the bigger rivers. It covers rivers all over Michigan, so if you’re heading up to the Upper Peninsula and need some recommendations on where to start, this is an excellent resource. It’s available at most local book stores and fly shops.

Map of Manistee National Forest – North
If you are going to be fishing the Pere Marquette up to the Manistee River and in between, National Geographic has a water resistant map of the Manistee National Forest. If looking for a quick reference to carry around with you without carrying a full book around, this is a good option. It’s available online and at most local book stores. I found mine at Schuler’s Books in Grand Rapids.
